Carmella is the wife of Tony Helmes. They were married, September 21, 1963 in St. Teresa of Avila Church.

She is the mother of Sharon (Darryl) Gundrum, Tina (Eric) Hoffmeier and Mark Helmes, and grandmother of Christopher and Amber Gundrum, Morgan and Braden Helmes and Ruth Hoffmeier.

Carmella is the sister of Annette Patneau, Virginia Pangallo, Anthony Pangallo Jr., Pam Merz and the late Patsy Caito, the late Jo Ann Wieczorkowski and the late Joseph Pangallo. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
