Gertrude Catherine Pizzuto (nee Fowler), 72, beloved wife of 17 years and widow of Antonio Pizzuto, loving mother of Anthony Pizzuto, Amy House, and Ashley Pizzuto, and proud grandmother to Caden House and Elliott House, passed away on March 20, 2022 at Hillebrand Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from a long battle with Kidney Disease. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Rhoda Fowler, brother Jerome Fowler and sister Carol Reynolds. She is survived by siblings Richard (Jeri) Fowler and Elizabeth (David) Chamberlin along with many nieces and nephews.
Gertrude, affectionately known as Trudy, attended Western Hills High School and graduated in 1968. Trudy loved to go on vacation, especially to Gatlinburg, TN or anywhere near the beach. Any destination that was warm and might be in “triple digits” was always her preference. She also loved making treats for her family and friends along with baking cookies with her grandsons.
Despite the obstacles that came her way – losing her youngest daughter, Ashley, shortly after she was born, being widowed at 46 years old, having a major stroke at 52 years old – Trudy always overcame and diligently worked to provide for her children and ensure she was as independent as possible. Even through her battle with Kidney Disease, Trudy fought to make sure dialysis wasn’t something she needed until absolutely necessary. She defied odds in more ways than most people would ever imagine needing to. Trudy never wanted to be a burden to others or rely on anyone for help. If anything, she wanted to make sure she was always the one able to help and give of herself to others. This was Trudy all the way to the end, an example of generous, selfless love.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Tuesday March 29, 2022 at the Rebold Funeral Home (3700 Glenmore Avenue, Cheviot, OH, 45211), with a visitation from 10am-11am and service beginning at 11am. If desired, memorials and donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org).
