Janet A. (Strzyz) Morgan

Janet Anne (née Strzyz) Morgan was born in Waukegan, Illinois on May 18, 1932, to Peter Paul and Frances (Pawlaczyk) Strzyz and passed away on August 31, 2022 at age 90.  Janet was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, Walter Morgan, and by her brother, Thomas Strzyz. She is survived by her daughters, Paulette Morgan (William F. Howard), and Elizabeth Morgan, by her grandchildren Samantha Heilman, Rebecca Heilman, Naomi Heilman, Joseph Heilman, and Katherine Howard, as well as by nieces and nephew Julie Steffens, Thomas Strzyz, and Marilyn Rissmann.

Janet was raised in North Chicago, Illinois and attended Illinois State University on a full scholarship, being the first person in her family to attend college.  She became a high school social studies teacher in Michigan,  and after she married she and her family moved to Guam, where she taught third grade. Janet later lived in northeast Georgia before moving to Cincinnati with her family in 1979. 

In Cincinnati, Janet worked at Burke, Inc. and in the administrative offices of the Cincinnati Public Schools.  She loved the arts and culture of the Queen City and regularly attended the ballet, opera, theatre, and orchestra.  She was very proud of serving as a volunteer docent for the Cincinnati Zoo for over 35 years.  She was especially proud to have been asked to participate in animal pregnancy and behavioral watches at the Zoo.  In addition, she was an educator docent at the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Cincinnati Museum Center, and she volunteered at the Krohn Conservatory’s annual butterfly show and at the Aronoff Center. Janet was a congregant at Westwood United Methodist Church, where she volunteered in the nursery.

Janet especially loved to travel, visiting 25 different countries in her lifetime.  She always enjoyed learning new things and was passionate about sharing her love of learning with others.  She was loved and will be missed by all those she met in her journeys.

Friends and family will be received at the Rebold Funeral Home on Monday Sept. 12, 2022 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.  A graveside service will be held at Bridgetown Cemetery at 11am on Monday Sept. 12, 2022.  Pastor Brian Bucher officiating.
